Aranco, a case study in the Deusto Economic Studies Bulletin

At Aranco, we are particularly delighted to share news that recognises the exemplary nature of our business’s development from the perspective of business servitisation.

Aranco has been the subject of a study published in the Deusto Business Alumni Bulletin of Economic Studies, one of Spain’s leading academic journals in the field of economics and the longest-running journal in the field of business management, with over 80 years of history.

The article, authored by Bart Kamp, a researcher affiliated with Orkestra – Basque Institute of Competitiveness, was published in the March 2026 issue under the title “Aranco’s trajectory in servitisation: successful adaptations versus punctuated equilibria”

The study reviews Aranco’s evolution and analyses how our company has moved from a traditional consumables supply model to a comprehensive service model based on pay-per-use, technology and data, becoming a prime example of industrial servitisation.

We began our activity in the industrial wrapping sector over 35 years ago. Since then, our journey has been marked by disruption, reinvention and a constant commitment to innovation and sustainability.

This innovative vision is reflected both in our business model and in the continuous development of solutions that improve service: proprietary technology, machine connectivity, data analysis and tools that help our customers optimise costs and processes.

For Aranco, this publication also holds special significance. Over a decade ago, Bart Kamp’s research on servitisation helped to conceptualise and structure the development of Wrapping as a Service (WaaS) the model that today defines our value proposition.

Our first contact with Bart Kamp took place during the pandemic at a virtual event, and he subsequently visited our facilities in July 2023.

The article explains how the combination of service, technology, connectivity and data has enabled the development of a customer relationship model focused on process optimisation, operational efficiency and real control over wrapping costs.

The fact that this model is now the subject of academic analysis and a reference in studies on industrial servitisation is a recognition of the work carried out over decades by the entire Aranco team and of our vision to transform the sector through innovation.
